Most incentives are for investors engaging in the manufacturing and agriculture
sector: –

Fiscal Incentives

  • Corporate Income tax exemptions depending on your investment project
  • Duty free access: Construction material, capital goods (machinery, equipment
    and spare parts), and vehicles
  • Export incentive: You can import duty free raw materials if export your products
    from Ethiopia.

Non-fiscal incentives

  • Guarantee for repatriation of funds, principals and dividends acquired from
    your investment in Ethiopia.
  • Access benefits from trade agreements with key international markers, which
    investors in Ethiopia can access freely.

Businesses in Ethiopia are required to pay:

As a foreign investor, you have options to set up your company as limited company,
branch company, and share company. To set up your company, the government of
Ethiopia requires valid documentation and minimum capital.

  • Capital: According to the Ethiopian investment regulation, the minimum capital
    requirement for foreign investors starts from USD 50,000 to USD 200,000
    depending on the project type and form of the company to be incorporated.
  • Documents: Application letter, valid passport, investment visa, business
    background or company profile of shareholders, and other relevant documents
    are needed

You can set up your company either by submitting the documents physically or
through agent by giving power of attorney.

You have to arrange documents including passport, company profile, and supporting
letter from Ethiopian investment commission. After arranging the above documents,
you can apply in the Ethiopian immigration online portal. The process might take few
days.
